Google, Microsoft Turn to Congress for Cyberattack Relief

“A rash of cyberattacks is driving U.S. companies including technology giants Google Inc. and Microsoft Corp. to seek legislative relief from Congress. ‘There is a clear need to improve the flow of information between the private and public sectors, while being mindful of appropriate liability protections,’ said Anne Brady Perron, executive vice president of Crossroads Strategies, a lobbying firm that represents companies with an interest in the legislation. ‘As it stands now, our laws don’t do enough to foster the flow of information sharing, and this bill would encourage a public/private partnership to address and protect American consumers,’ Perron said.”
